You need a family law attorney: How do you find the right one?

Most people might candidly admit that it can be hard to decide at the end of a long day something as seemingly simple as what to cook for dinner or what television program to watch.

Even such trivial things can make for hard choices when they compete for limited time and attention in our busy and complex lives. There is always so much to think about and do.

We appreciate at Mitchell Highlander, LLC, that the lives of our prospective and current clients are fast-paced, frenetic and, often, challenging. And we know just how hard it can be for individuals and families to find the “right” attorney when they need effective family law representation. It is one thing to decide between olives or onions on a pizza; it is far more important, obviously, to select appropriate legal counsel as a professional advocate at an important juncture in life.

We note on our Maryville family law website that family law matters (e.g., divorce, child custody, property division and other concerns) “are extremely personal and can have a lasting impact on your life and finances.” We further acknowledge that a lot of attorneys have shingles affixed to office doors and are open for your business. We duly stress that it is important for any consumer to secure proven legal help from an attorney “who understands what you are going through and can get you where you need to be.”

How can you optimally go about finding an attorney you are comfortable with and who you confidently view will handle your case with true competence and care?

We will address that question with some ideas and suggestions in our next blog post.
