Biography

Amanda G. Highlander represents clients in a wide range of domestic relations and family law matters, from allocation of parenting time and responsibilities to dissolutions and adoptions. Prior to joining The Law Office of Jamie Mitchell, Amanda gained a breadth of domestic and civil litigation experience before taking a short hiatus from the practice to spend time with her children.

As a parent and partner, Amanda recognizes the gravity of the issues clients are addressing when they seek legal counsel and the importance of a client-centered practice. She is continuously focused on obtaining the most favorable outcomes for her clients be it through active litigation, settlement discussions, or alternative dispute resolution.

She earned her undergraduate degree from Vanderbilt University (2006) and her Juris Doctorate from Washington University in St. Louis School of Law (2010). Amanda is admitted to the bars of Missouri (2010) and Illinois (2011).

Amanda serves the Illinois State Bar Association as a Governor of the Board, the Chair of the Child Law Section Council, and a member of the Scope and Correlation Committee. She is also Silver Fellow with Illinois Bar Foundation and is a member of the inaugural class of the Illinois State Bar Association Leadership Academy.

Amanda also serves as a panel attorney for the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services and is active the coordination of Madison County's annual National Adoption Day.

Amanda is proud to serve on the Board of Directors for the Girl Scouts of Southern Illinois and volunteers with her daughter's Girl Scout Troop.
